About Us

Vision

UKZN’s Nanotechnology Platform has a vision of : “Collaborating towards a world class nanotechnology change agent”

The platform’s key goals include: market focus; research niche areas; cross-disciplinary and cross-campus collaboration; attracting researchers and research investment; establishing sustainability and long term viability; upholding scientific quality; maintaining a high level of scientific productivity; and applying flexible management approaches.

The platform was formed to:

  • create a team of collaborators within the university
  • provide human capacity development and mentorship 
  • consolidate and generate infrastructure, facilities and resources for advancement of nanoscience and nanotechnology at UKZN
  • offer scientific and technological support that includes the design, development and analysis of devices, materials and processes
